Pol(

On a Casio calculator you can convert rectangular coordinates (xy) to polar coordinates (r, θ)

Pol(

Calculation results are automatically assigned to variables E and F.

Example 1

To convert cartesian coordinates (x = 1, y = √3) to polar coordinates (r = 2, θ = 60°)

Pol(  1   3  ) =  Pol(1,√3)
                 2.

and show the value r = 2 from variable E

RCL cos  E=
           2.

and show the value θ = 60° from variable F

RCL tan  F=
          60.

Example 2

To convert rectangular coordinates (1, 1.739) to polar coordinates (r, θ)

Pol(  1   1   •   7   3   9  ) = Pol(1,1.739)
2.006021186

and show the value of θ from variable F

RCL tan  F=
 1.048929636

Example 3

The right parentheses is not really necessary, so you can just enter

Pol(  1   1   •   7   3   9  =  Pol(1,1.739

2.006021186
